Who am I?
I am Kara Monroe. I go by a couple of monikers online - I Wanna Be Me When I Grow Up as well as kicki22. Both have their own origin stories which I will save for another time. I am a bit of a polymath.
I earn a living as a consultant focusing on innovation, higher and non traditional education, and educational technology. You can learn more about my company, Monarch Strategies LLC, here.
I volunteer with hospice, literacy and education programs in the Indianapolis area with my miniature double doodle Kona. Kona is also the Chief of Peace and Wellness (Chief PAW) for Monarch Strategies LLC. We are learning how to do things through AKC like Rally and Obedience.
I am a world traveler. I love Disney Cruise Line and Disney in general.
I love to create content.
I write on Medium, Hive, and publish a weekly newsletter.
I create videos on two different YouTube Channels - I Wanna Be Me When I Grow Up and Knowledge Work Nexus .
I am a voracious reader. I share what I've read each week in my weekly newsletter. I also post my reviews for books on Hive and Medium from time to time.
I love to cook. I may publish cooking videos eventually but I've not gotten around to that yet.
I am a teacher and a learner. I'm working on developing my own online course. In the meantime you can find me in lots of online course spaces and communities.
I am serving as a mentor in R.J. Nestor's AP Productivity Course. This course teaches you how to build a productivity system in their preferred Tool for Thought. We are currently focusing on Roam Research, Obsidian, and Amplenote. The principles are universal though so you could use this course and this community if you are interested in getting better at using your time for the things you want to get done.
I take WAY too many online courses. My favorites right now are Notion Mastery with Marie Poulin, Ship 30 for 30, and Ali Abdaal's Part Time YouTube Academy
